The Art of Recycling
The future of textile waste is a critical issue as global consumption of clothing continues to rise and fast fashion accelerates disposal rates. Global textile waste is expected to skyrocket. The World Bank estimates fashion produces over 92 million tons of waste annually, and this could increase by 60% by 2030.The major fibers that were used to manufacture apparel in 2020 were mostly synthetic fibers (~62.2%), followed by cotton (~24.4%) and others such as rayon and wool (~14%).
